Lin Xiaoman, a terminally ill girl, is sent to Yaowang Taoist Temple in the deep mountains by her family to "wait for death." She stumbles upon a cultivation manual left by the former abbot and secretly practices it, unexpectedly awakening her spiritual roots and recovering. Just then, Lu Qingchen, the cold and ascetic legitimate heir of the temple, returns. He sees through her secret cultivation and threatens to expel her. But as they interact, Lu is moved by her tenacity—from cold scoldings to silently accompanying her sword practice. Xiaoman also discovers her illness is a curse from a family enemy; cultivation is not just for survival but the key to uncovering her parents' death. When the shadow of revenge looms, they grow closer while fighting enemies together—turns out, the temple hides an ancient spirit herb that can break the curse, and Lu's mission to protect the temple is already intertwined with her fate.
