Tang Wan, a boatwoman at Tangzhou Ferry in the Jiangnan region, lives by her late mother's rule: "Ferry people, not their hearts." Her life changes when she saves Gu Zhao, a wounded man claiming to be a traveling scholar. Gu Zhao is gentle—he fixes her boat, carries her across the river on rainy nights—but hides a secret: he's the third prince, hiding at the ferry to investigate military power corruption. When pursuers arrive, Tang Wan pulls out an old map left by her mother: the ferry hides a secret granary, and she's been waiting for someone who can "ferry the whole world." From ferrying each other to ferrying the kingdom, their sweet romance holds a twist—their meeting was never by chance.
