"Please Lend Me Your Ear" follows Su Wan, the last survivor of a general's family, who disguises herself as a lowly palace maid to investigate her family's massacre. The new emperor Rong Jing seems to indulge in pleasures but is secretly hunting the mastermind behind the court's turmoil. When Su Wan stumbles upon his "pretence," she's forced to become his "accomplice"—helping him fend off the Empress Dowager's forced marriage and solve the stolen disaster relief silver case. As they move from mutual suspicion to growing affection, Su Wan discovers the culprit of her family's injustice is Rong Jing's uncle—only to find Rong Jing has long prepared an escape for her... Rong Jing's "debauchery" is just bait for enemies; his true plan is to give Su Wan a kingdom where she never has to hide again.
