Su Wan, daughter of a general, survived her family’s massacre over false charges of “colluding with enemies” with a baby in her arms. She hid her identity to become a street doctor, determined to raise the child safely. Six years later, she saved Gu Zhao, a wounded “down-and-out young master” who gently helped her fend off troubles and taught the child to read—but Gu Zhao is actually a dark guard leader sent by the new emperor to reinvestigate the Su family’s case. Worse, her “son” is the orphan of the former crown prince! When the truth emerges—the Su family’s injustice points to the empress, and the child’s identity sparks assassinations—Su Wan must transform from a fugitive to a “traitor’s daughter” to clear her family’s name. But those moments of boiling medicine together, of protecting the child side by side—are they Gu Zhao’s scheme, or his true feelings? She wants justice, but more than that, she needs to know: is his “lingering thought” obsession with the case, or love for her?
