Shen Zhao, an imperial female official, is ordered to investigate Gu Heng, a young general accused of "colluding with enemies." She deliberately gets close to him but is touched by his sincere heart—Gu Heng seems frivolous, yet he's secretly probing a military pay corruption case at the border to protect his father's defensive line (who died in battle). From mutual testing to fighting side by side, when Gu Heng finally uncovers the truth, he finds the mastermind is Shen Zhao's adoptive father! Torn between her lover's trust and the bond of her foster father's upbringing, Shen Zhao resolutely stands for justice and joins Gu Heng to break the conspiracy. In the end, they guard the country's peace, and the moon witnesses their true love.
