Su Wan, a folk doctor, is tricked into the palace as a substitute because she looks exactly like Gu Zhao, the crown prince's "white moonlight" Shen Rou. She intends to escape, but when taking care of the seriously injured Gu Zhao, she melts his guard with her medical skills and sincerity—turns out Gu Zhao knew she was a substitute all along, using her to test Shen Rou's ambition to usurp the throne. When Shen Rou colludes with foreign enemies to poison the city defense, Su Wan steps up to cure the poison, making Gu Zhao realize his true heart: he never loved the shell of the "white moonlight", but the vivid and brave girl in front of him. After they quell the rebellion together, Gu Zhao makes Su Wan his queen, and this "mistake" becomes their sweetest fate.
