To clear her father's name—who was wrongfully executed—Su Wanwan takes on the identity of the late "National Imperial Madam" Shen Zhixia and marries into the mansion of Lu Yanchuan, a first-rank powerful minister. Lu Yanchuan is notoriously arrogant in the capital: he argues with the emperor in court, punishes servants at home, and even dares to smash the Empress Dowager's gifts. However, he never expects his new wife "Shen Zhixia" to not only refuse to comply but also find ways to discipline him: when he fakes illness to skip court, she serves him a "tonic" laced with coptis; when he tries to use his power to crush Su's father's old allies, she directly hands the evidence to the emperor. What scares Lu Yanchuan most is that this "fake madam" seems to know his secret—he was involved in framing Su's father years ago? As the truth closes in and his feelings for "Shen Zhixia" deepen, when the fake imperial madam exposes the arrogant minister's schemes, who will lose this game first?
