Young corpse chaser Lin Xiaoman travels to Xu Zhou alone with a bronze coffin to clear her master's name of "colluding with bandits to rob coffins," only to accidentally get involved in the murder of the prefect's son. The cold and scheming constable Shen Chi labels her the prime suspect, forcing them to team up. From the blood-oozing ancient coffin in the mortuary to the paper figurine singing at midnight, all clues lead to the "Corpse Chasing Manual" that vanished two decades ago. As the truth unfolds, Lin Xiaoman realizes her master's injustice is merely a piece of a larger plot—and the secret Shen Chi hides beneath his indifference is tied to her own origins.
