Su Wantang, the "Hibiscus Embroideress" of a Suzhou embroidery workshop, is famous for her vivid hibiscus embroidery but has closed herself off due to the tragedy ten years ago—her family was murdered for guarding an authentic painting *Hibiscus in Spring* from the previous dynasty. One day, Gu Zhaozhi, in a moon-white robe, comes with half a damaged painting, saying he wants to find the complete work and that the hibiscus patterns in Su's embroidery hold clues. Su tries to drive him away but spots a jade hibiscus pendant on his waist—the very one her mother gave her, which she buried in her parents' grave! Is Gu here for revenge or to find a relative? As they decode the embroidery clues, the truth of the massacre emerges, and Su discovers Gu's identity is deeply linked to her family's death.
