Lin Xiaoman, an ad planner, and Gu Huai, a researcher, have been married for three years but act like "polite roommates"—they don’t even know if the other likes sweet or savory zongzi. Until Xiaoman loses her job (working from home) and Gu Huai’s project is suspended, forcing them to spend every day together. They clash over the bathroom (knocking off glasses), realize they both hate cilantro when cooking, and find each other’s "secrets": Xiaoman’s high school comics, Gu Huai’s handmade models. Amid awkwardness, they discover tenderness in "unfamiliarity": he leaves a hallway light on for her late nights, she washes his lab coat with a sweet scent. When Xiaoman says, "Shall we get to know each other again?" Gu Huai smiles and hands her a peeled shrimp: "Of course, Miss Lin."
