Back in his hometown Dongjiang Town in Northeast China, ex-soldier Lin Xiaoyu just wants to lead a quiet, stable life. But his childhood friend Sister Dongjiang, who has been out making a living for years, suddenly shows up with a down-and-out young man in debt, asking to stay at Lin's home. While his childhood sweetheart pushes him to get a proper job, Sister Dongjiang vows to help him start a business but always lands them in trouble. To make things worse, debt collectors keep haunting them. Caught between a rock and a hard place, Lin Xiaoyu has to clean up her messes while protecting his peaceful life, kicking off a chaotic yet heartwarming local story in Northeast China.
