Shen Man (played by Guan Xin) has hated Lu Shiyan (played by Chang Zhekuan) for eight years—he left without a word back then, making her the laughingstock of everyone. But she insists on keeping their old promise, waiting for him every year just to hurl her accumulated grievances back as sarcastic words. Yet every time Lu Shiyan stares at her with red-rimmed eyes, she realizes: the crumpled couple photos she’s flipped through countless times, the skipped heartbeat when she hears his name—all have turned “hatred” into the most restrained love she dares not speak of. Until Lu Shiyan finally grabs her hand in desperation and says “I love you,” she understands: both of them have been standing still, hiding their hottest affection behind hatred.
