Set during the Kangxi Era of the Qing Dynasty, seventh-ranked county magistrate Su Jingtang is on the verge of a major promotion. His daughter Su Wanxing, a modern soul trapped in an ancient noble girl’s body, knows all too well that a higher office will land her family in court intrigues and mortal danger. Determined to secure banishment to save them all, she wreaks havoc: using the official seal as a pickle jar lid, fattening the magistrate’s superior’s horse into a portly lump, even singing raunchy ditties at the imperial envoy’s banquet. But every chaotic stunt backfires, earning her father more praise and faster promotions. Now Wanxing is stuck, forced to act like a proper lady while desperately trying to derail her dad’s career before things spiral out of control.
