Lin Xiaoman, a recently laid-off office worker, is in deep trouble—her mother is critically ill and needs a huge surgery fee, while her father is drowning in debt from stock speculation. Just as the family is about to collapse, her grandmother, who passed away three years ago, suddenly possesses her body! The grandma, who once only knew how to make braised food, uses her "old-school wisdom" to revive a neighborhood breakfast stall, earning their first pot of gold with her secret braised recipe. She helps Xiaoman's father quit gambling and even stands up to Xiaoman's former boss who used to PUA her. But as Grandma gets more adapted to modern life, Xiaoman discovers the real reason for her arrival—a unsent letter hidden in an old photo album… and Grandma's "borrowed time" seems to be quietly counting down?
