In the old alley of an ancient city in the 1980s, Lin Chuan, a young assistant at a small antique shop, accidentally awakened a treasure appraisal ability—when his palm touches an object, he can see its past and present. Once mocked by peers as "only good at wiping cabinets," he used this ability to expose a snobbish businessman's fake Song Dynasty porcelain scam and helped his grandfather keep their old shop from being forcibly demolished by real estate developers. But when he touched the bronze mirror his grandfather had hidden for half his life, he glimpsed the secret of his family's ancestors being imperial treasure appraisers—and the whereabouts of a family heirloom lost overseas for a century. To retrieve the heirloom, Lin Chuan traveled across the country appraising treasures, humiliating those who looked down on him while uncovering the era's secrets behind antiques. Along the way, he finally understood the true meaning of his grandfather's words: "Appraise the heart before appraising the treasure."
