Hong Kong ship king Gu Tingshen is on the brink of death from a serious illness. His family brings 6-year-old Xiaoman from the countryside to ward off misfortune (a traditional practice). Unexpectedly, this little girl has a "luck aura"—withered orchids bloom again after she touches them, she helps the housekeeper retrieve the lost family heirloom, and even Gu Tingshen's condition improves miraculously. However, the Gu family's enemies and even the fiancée of Gu's eldest son call her a "jinx" and try every means to drive her away. Until Xiaoman accidentally uncovers the truth about Gu Tingshen's assassination years ago and saves the Gu family from the deadly crisis of their sunken cargo ship. Only then do those who once bullied her realize that this little girl is the "living lucky star" the Gu family has been destined for.
