Lin Xiaoman, an overworked office drone, is hit by a talking cicada on her way home from an all-nighter, binding her to the "Summer Cultivation System"—she must complete 99 counterattack missions before the cicadas stop singing, or be trapped in an endless July forever. To her horror, the mission target is Lu Zhaoning, the icy CEO she's had a crush on for three years! She tries to help him fend off drinks but is labeled a "drunkard", waters his succulent into a "hydroponic plant", and accidentally uncovers a business trap... What was a miserable looped summer becomes sweet as honey thanks to their clumsy套路 (tàolù, playful scheming)—turns out the cicada songs aren't a cage, but fate's "summer sugar coating" for the underdog, and the "cultivation endpoint" she's searching for is Lu Zhaoning's three-year-hidden confession.
