Modern cultural relic restorer Lin Wan meets Gu Chuan, an amnesiac man with an inexplicable obsession with her, while restoring a Northern and Southern Dynasties general's statue. Gu Chuan carries a broken jade pendant that perfectly matches her family heirloom, and always dreams of being a general who died in battle, with her as the doctor who took an arrow for him. As the jade glows and ancient paintings reveal hidden images, Lin Wan recalls their past life: they promised “Never fail the next life, never fail you” in the military camp, but she died taking a lethal arrow for him during an enemy raid, and he殉城 (died with the fallen city) holding her body. Yet in this life, Gu Chuan has a strange illness—he won't live past 27, and tomorrow is his birthday. Can they break the cycle of fate and rewrite their past regrets with the warmth of this life?
