Lin Xiaoman, an old object restorer, receives a Republic of China-era desk lamp engraved with "Love is a beam of light". While restoring it, she finds half an unsent love letter from Su Nian, a 1947 female student, to her lover A Lin. The dying Su Nian shows up—she wants to find A Lin, who has been missing for 70 years, before her life ends. Xiaoman helps her search while struggling with her own failed relationship, which ended because she was afraid to give her all. When the old lamp finally glows warm again one night, Su Nian gets a response to her missing person notice, and Xiaoman receives an apology text from her ex. It turns out love isn’t a vanished light, but a lamp hidden in time, waiting for you to dare turn it on again.
