Lin Xiaoman, a gluttonous girl who sells medicinal snacks at the alley, always “saves a bite” of everything she makes. One day, while holding her last candied licorice plum, she spots an old man with a cyanotic face lying by the road—Chen Mo, the recluse divine doctor who saved the village from a plague a decade ago. Panicked, Xiaoman shoves the plum into his mouth (unaware licorice counteracts his snake venom) and revives him! She thinks it’s a fluke, but Chen shows up the next day with her snack stall menu: “Using osmanthus cake for stomachache, ginger candy for vomiting—you’re a born divine doctor.” Before Xiaoman can process this, a strange disease hits the village, symptoms identical to the old plague. Chen, however, falls ill due to an old injury. Now, this gluttonous chef who can’t even take a pulse must use her “food-honed” medicinal knowledge to take over the divine doctor’s role and save the village…
