In the late 1980s, Lin Xiaofu, kicked out by her adoptive parents for being “unlucky,” stumbles into an abandoned clay sculpture studio in desperation—only to be possessed by an ancient clay doll with a fairy soul. From then on, her hands seem to have “magic”: the crutch she捏s helps a disabled grandpa stand again, and the doll she molds calls a lonely little girl “mom.” When she restores the town’s lost century-old “Hundred Kids Celebrating Spring” clay group, she becomes an overnight sensation: her adoptive parents beg her to return, neighbors who once cursed her line up for her “blessed clay,” and even a provincial museum professor comes with a bedroll to take her as a disciple… But no one knows, the clay doll possessing her is waiting for her to fulfill a millennium-old promise.
