A 'sleeping beauty' named Lin Wantang moved into the old downtown courtyard—thin and pale, she always napped under the old locust tree with an old book, like a fragile white jasmine. Gu Ye, the fire captain, was stunned the first time he saw her: this girl, whose voice was as soft as a breeze, actually chased a fire truck to hand him a thermos after his mission. To get close, Gu Ye tried every trick to 'stay in her sight': fixing her water pipe to crash dinner, taking her to pet the brigade's cats, asking the canteen aunt to save her hot porridge. But Lin Wantang had a secret—she'd come here to escape her family’s marriage pressure and heal her long-term insomnia. Now the courtyard’s uncles and aunts got busy: Aunt Zhang deliberately forgot vinegar when sending wontons to make Gu Ye run errands; Uncle Li moved his potted plants to her balcony to 'force' Gu Ye to water them. When Gu Ye held a week’s worth of ginkgo leaves, blushing, and said, 'I want to be your sleeping pill,' Lin Wantang finally smiled—turns out the warmest healing is when someone treats your 'fragility' as a treasure to hold for life.
