Country boy Lin Xiaoqiang arrives in the city with a bag of homegrown oranges to find his missing sister, only to accidentally stumble into a gang fight and be chased as an "informant". Using the agility he gained from cutting pigweed back home and the wit from dealing with neighbors, he escapes danger and accidentally obtains evidence of the gang's smuggling. At this moment, A-Mei, the daughter of the gang boss, appears—she wants to escape her father's gang empire, and Lin's sister's disappearance is linked to the gang's "cargo". From mutual suspicion to sharing life and death, they evade pursuit while investigating the truth. In the end, Lin rescues his sister, takes down the gang's den, and becomes the "guardian kid" among Dongguan's old neighbors.
