Eight-year-old Xiao Mo goes down the mountain to find his mother as ordered by his master, the Painting Immortal. But his shabby clothes make him mistaken for a beggar—pelted with stones by kids and chased away by noodle shop owners. However, no one knows the worn bamboo pen in his arms is the “Flower-Born Pen” passed down by the Painting Immortal: a painted hot bun steams and tastes real, a painted mugwort drives away fierce dogs, and even a paper butterfly leads him to his mother’s old hairpin. When Xiao Mo uses the pen to help an old candy seller get her stolen money back, he attracts masked men who want the pen. Can this little prodigy protect the pen and find his mother with his wit?
