Lin Chuan, a poor young man, marries Su Wan (a stranger) to raise money for his mother's medical bills, but is asked for a divorce by his wife on their wedding night! An accidental overhearing reveals that Su Wan is from the future—where "Lin Chuan" is a heartless man who abandons his wife and child. She travels back just to end this "wrong marriage" early. Unwilling to be defined by the future, Lin Chuan secretly solves Su Wan's future troubles while melting her defenses with clumsy sincerity. Just as Su Wan wavers, the "consequences" from the future creep in—can their fate really be changed?
