Lin Xiaotang, the "wimpiest" disciple of Zixiao Temple, spent five years practicing what his master called "basic breathing exercises"—so scared of ghosts he’d jump three feet away at the sight of a shadow. Until he went down the mountain to buy osmanthus wine for his master, he found the martial world abuzz: "For five years, every man-eating ghost king has been destroyed by a divine thunder, leaving not even a soul!" Even more absurd: Miss Shen, whose family was massacred by a ghost king; Miss Su, haunted by a ghost baby for a decade; and even the imperial princess are all blocking the wine shop, grabbing his sleeve and sobbing, "Please strike again!" When he opens his master’s letter, Lin Xiaotang freezes—what he practiced wasn’t basic at all, but Zixiao Temple’s most treasured "Purple Cloud Thunder Control Scripture." All the ghosts he thought he "avoided" were actually turned to ash by the thunder he unconsciously summoned!
