Lin Wan, an intern at the observatory, has persisted for three years in searching for the legendary "fleeting star". Her life changes when she meets Shen Shiyan, a mysterious astronomy blogger—he not only helps her decode star maps but also makes her taste the sweetness of love for the first time. However, when Lin Wan accidentally finds Shen Shiyan's amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis, all the starlight shatters: the man who promised to watch the Milky Way with her is slowly losing the strength to hold a telescope. She rushes to find the old locust tree said to "tether stars", but when she returns to the hospital with locust leaves covered in stardust, Shen Shiyan's fingertips can no longer touch her hand. Yet he smiles and says, "You are my brightest star."
