Lin Chuan, a poor young man in the village, accidentally inherits an ancient spirit spring that can revive the dying and make barren land grow thousand-year-old medicinal herbs. Su Wanqing, a city-based medical PhD, settles in the village for research—she initially mocks Lin Chuan as “rustic and uneducated” until her grandma suffers a sudden critical illness and the hospital issues a death notice. Lin Chuan saves the old lady with medicine brewed from the spirit spring overnight, reconciling their differences. But the village bully covets the spring and tries to seize it, while city capitalists send people to “acquire” the mountain where the spring is located. Lin Chuan uses his medical skills to treat villagers’ rare diseases and teams up with Su Wanqing to fight external threats. Along the way, they go from “bickering foes” to “tacit partners,” eventually guarding the spirit spring and the village, and gaining a sweet love that’s too sweet to bear.
