Shen Qingyao, a young metaphysical diviner, is forced to marry Ye Mohan—the powerful regent—due to a late emperor's edict. On the wedding day, Ye Mohan bursts into the hall with a blood-stained knife, accusing her of being the "demoness" who killed his mother! But Shen Qingyao calmly uses her divination plate to predict he'll be attacked by a hidden arrow in half an hour—and a cold arrow indeed whizzes past his carotid artery! It turns out Ye Mohan's mother was poisoned by the Empress Dowager, and someone framed Shen Qingyao. Moreover, the "life-saving divination" Shen Qingyao gave a "little beggar" at age three was for Ye Mohan, who was being hunted back then. Caught between a regent husband ready to "chop his wife" and the Empress Dowager's faction closing in, Shen Qingyao must expose the conspiracy while winning over the "knife-wielding groom". The divination says they're "a destined calamity and a destined fate"—is this knife-wielding wedding a trap, or true love?
