Lin Wanyin’s life is bitterer than golden thread—her stepmother calls her a 'mother-killer,' her half-sister steals her college acceptance letter, and her father yells 'get out' in her face. On her deathbed, her grandmother gave her a string of Buddhist beads: 'Rong Ji, the monk on the mountain, can catch you.' She drags her suitcase up the mountain, only to find Rong Ji in a moon-white robe, faint blue under his eyes, his voice as cold as mountain wind: 'Benefactor, Buddha saves all, but not obsession.' Yet he makes her ginger tea, shields her from her family’s insults, and when she cries so hard she shakes, wraps his robe around her and whispers, 'Don’t be afraid.' When the temple tries to drive her away and her stepmother threatens to ruin her, Rong Ji grabs her hand: 'If Buddha won’t save you, I won’t be a monk.' But dare Wanyin accept this forbidden love? And dare Rong Ji give it?
