Su Wan, an agronomy PhD, transmigrates to a rural village in 1978 while staying up late doing experiments, becoming the youngest daughter of a family labeled a "capitalist tail" facing struggle sessions. She wakes up to see her mother being paraded through the streets, and her family on the brink of starvation—until she hears wheat in the field yelling "thirsty" and pumpkins in the corner saying "need fertilizer"! It turns out she brought the cheat ability "listening to plants" with her. She uses it to improve seeds in the family’s private plot and secretly grows off-season vegetables to exchange for food stamps, but is called a "witch" by villagers. Lin Yan, the educated youth next door, initially thinks she’s crazy—until he sees her grow rice with a yield of over 500 kg per mu and offers to help her find plastic sheets for greenhouses. From a "troublemaker" being struggled to the first family in the village to build a brick house, Su Wan solves droughts and pests with plant "hints" while falling for Lin Yan. In the end, she leads her family from hunger to eating refined grains, turns the greenhouse into a village-wide "get-rich project", and turns the 70s into a sweet well-off life!
