Lin Chuan, a mountain hunter, went searching for his missing dog on a snowy day and found three-year-old Xiaotang wrapped in tattered cotton in a valley. The Lin family was destitute: Grandma was bedridden, younger siblings needed schooling, and Lin Chuan’s leg injury prevented heavy work. But after Xiaotang arrived, luck struck—unsold mountain goods were bought at a high price by a city boss, Grandma could get out of bed after drinking Xiaotang’s herbal tea, and Lin Chuan’s leg healed with her daily massages. Just as life improved, Xiaotang’s biological parents arrived with bodyguards. They’d abandoned her years ago because a fortune-teller said she “cursed her parents,” but now that she’s a “lucky charm,” they wanted her back to “change their fate.” Lin Chuan shielded Xiaotang, gripping his shotgun: “This kid’s mine from the mountain—get through me first if you want her!” But Xiaotang tugged his衣角, holding a wild strawberry: “Daddy, I won’t leave. I want to stay with our family.” Looking at the soft child in his arms, Lin Chuan’s eyes reddened—this wasn’t just a picked-up kid; it was a living Buddha Heaven gave his family.
