Su Li, the top actress of Li Xiang Ge Opera Troupe, falls in love with Gu Chaomu, a warlord's young marshal, through the opera *The Peony Pavilion*. But she discovers a devastating truth—Gu's father is the one who massacred her family years ago for refusing to sell their opera house. Su hides poison to avenge, only to find when Gu takes a knife for her that he already knew everything and was secretly gathering evidence to clear her family's name. As Gu collapses in the pear blossom rain, smiling with the evidence in his hand and saying, "I finally can give you justice," Su realizes their love was never a mistake—fate just cruelly made pear blossoms bear their blood and tears, forcing the lovers to suffer between hatred and deep affection to the extreme.
