Lin Xiaoman, returning from studying abroad, is shocked to find her father a changed man—once frugal enough to skip milk tea, he now buys a tens-of-thousands-yuan necklace for nanny Su Xiaoman and secretly plans to change his will to give her the house. Xiaoman traces clues and discovers Su Xiaoman’s温柔 trap: she fakes asthma attacks to make Dad feel guilty, lies that “Xiaoman thinks you’re old and useless” to drive a wedge between them, and even deletes Xiaoman’s messages. When Xiaoman gets evidence of Su forging chronic illness records and embezzling Dad’s pension, Dad calls her “ungrateful.” It’s not until Su’s former employer shows up to expose her pattern of “preying on elderly loners” that Dad wakes up. Together, father and daughter kick out this “gentle hunter” and reclaim their family’s warmth.
