Zhou Hu, a retired Northeast Chinese special forces soldier, returns home to care for his late brother's grandmother—only to have "Country Little Pepper" Su Xiaomei burst into his farm. Fiery-tongued yet kind, she's determined to stay and work to fund her grandmother's eye surgery. Zhou Hu tries to drive her away, but ends up outmatched by her "pepper-style counterattacks": replacing his hidden alcohol with vinegar, leading his grandma to sing Northeast folk opera (errenzhuan) to block his door... Gradually, he discovers her "spiciness" hides softness; Su Xiaomei also sees past Zhou Hu's toughness to his tender heart: secretly paying her grandma's medical bills, boiling ginger tea when she's sick, even building a giant pepper snowman overnight because she mentioned wanting to see one. They go from bickering to sweet romance—until grandma's sudden critical illness and rivals' rumors of "cheating a rural girl" hit. Can this "tiger-and-pepper" love survive?
