Su Danggui, the young owner of a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinic, bursts into the "Jagermeister" bar to find her truant brother, mistaking the boss Lu Ye for a "troublemaker who led her brother astray"—she calls his bar a chaotic mess "like conflicting herbal formulas", while he teases her for "looking like an antique from a Republic of China drama in a qipao holding a pulse pillow". But when Lu Ye carries her feverish brother to the clinic at midnight, and Danggui brews ginger tea to soothe his hangover in the bar's kitchen, the two—like "TCM and spirits"—grow closer. Yet a decade-old secret shatters their tenderness: Lu Ye's sister died from a misdiagnosis years ago, and the attending doctor was none other than Danggui's mother. A meeting of "Chinese angelica and Jagermeister" must finally face the thorns of fate—can their love survive the trial of "conflicting properties"?
