Su Xiaoman, a recent design graduate, loses her job and gets evicted, wandering into "Deep Alley Bistro" at midnight. The owner, Lin Shen—a bearded, quiet uncle—silently protects her from a drunkard and offers her a part-time job. As they bond, Xiaoman discovers Lin Shen was a special forces instructor who secretly polishes her portfolio and stands up to her unfair ex-boss. Just as she grows attached to this "rough uncle", Lin Shen disappears with a note: "I’m afraid I can’t give you the future you deserve." Xiaoman waits at the bistro until one night, Lin Shen returns with sunflowers and the bistro’s property deed with both their names—he’d been saving to buy it, wanting to give her a home.
