Su Wan, a new surgical resident, approaches the reputedly "heartless" thoracic surgery director Lu Shiyan to investigate her sister's death during surgery—Lu's signature was on the last page of her sister's operation record three years ago. But as they spend time together, she finds the "unfeeling" doctor leaves her hot congee on night shifts, shields her from a medical闹事者's knife, and even uses his body to protect her from a car accident. Just as she lowers her guard, she stumbles upon her sister's diagnosis hidden in Lu's drawer—her sister's cancer had already spread extensively, and Lu had fought desperately to save her! When the truth comes out, Su Wan realizes: the "coldness" in the rumors was just his way of hiding his tenderness as protection.
