In a remote Vietnamese village, teenage girl Cuoi is targeted by local gangsters who force her into prostitution to pay off a fake debt and blackmail her into marrying their boss. On the verge of despair, she is saved by a retired soldier nicknamed "War God Lao". When Cuoi tries to thank him, she spots an exact match of her family's heirloom jade pendant on him.
