Border soldier Lu Jingchen is ordered to gallop 700 li to deliver fresh lychees from southern China to the Tang capital Chang'an. Thinking it's just a routine errand, he is shocked to learn the fruits are meant to make Imperial Consort Yang Yuhuan smile. Disdaining the emperor's frivolous indulgence that neglects state affairs, he is even more stunned when he meets the consort and finds her face matches his late younger sister exactly. Torn between imperial orders, a hidden family secret and an unexpected stirring in his heart, every gallop carries not just lychees, but hidden power struggles and buried truths beneath the prosperous Tang court.
