Gather His Moonlight to Grow My Cinnabar follows Shi Yan (Sun Yixun), a reserved cultural relic restorer, who clashes with Su Wan (Yu Yutong), a second-hand store owner eager to uncover an ancient painting's cinnabar secret. Su Wan stumbles upon Shi Yan's sketchbook—filled with moonlit girls that look exactly like her, complete with the same cinnabar mole between the eyebrows. When Shi Yan sees Su Wan's moonlight stone pendant, he recalls a teenage memory: saving a bullied girl under the moon, drawing a cinnabar mole on her, and gifting her the stone. As the painting is restored, the hidden phrase "Gather my moonlight, plant your cinnabar" emerges—revealing the painting is Shi Yan's old promise to the girl, and Su Wan is the "moonlit girl" he forgot. When their decade-old promise resurfaces, can they resolve misunderstandings and retrieve their true love?
