Lin Chujiu, the last heir of the Ma Yi School of physiognomy, abides by the ancestral precept "Read the heart before reading the face" and makes a living by reading faces for ordinary people at a street stall. However, he offends Chen Shao, a real estate tycoon's son, by refusing to alter his "wife-killing face" and gets retaliated against. One day, he saves Su Wanning, a girl tricked by her stepmother into marrying Chen Shao as a "luck charm"—her face is exactly the "disaster star" he dreamed of as a child. To help Su Wanning break the "death before the wedding night" curse, Lin Chujiu risks using the forbidden "face-transferring technique," which accidentally triggers his sealed memories: his parents were killed for stopping the Chen family from stealing the Ma Yi School's "Divine Face Stone," and Su Wanning is actually the stone's "guardian." As Chen Shao's pursuit and the stone's curse hit one after another, Lin Chujiu must choose between protecting his lover and uncovering the truth—a choice that could cost lives.
