In the turbulent Republic of China era, Ah Chou, a little beggar, picks up a tail-broken turtle and accidentally unlocks a "life-saving cheat"—this spirit turtle can sense danger in advance, helping her escape warlord raids, grain merchant assassinations, and even saving Gu Zhao, a famous opera actor chased by debt collectors. But as the turtle reveals its magic, the mystery of Ah Chou's origin unfolds: she is the missing daughter of a military governor, and Gu Zhao approached her to avenge his family's massacre by the governor years ago? When the knife of revenge is pressed to her chest, Ah Chou grips the turtle shell and laughs: "Want my life? Ask my 'Turtle Lord' first!" A little beggar in chaotic times stirs up storms with a turtle, determined to live as the wildest light.
