In a 1990s Northeast Chinese industrial town, honest guy Wang Guancheng is everyone's go-to pushover. He takes the fall for his buddies' trouble, pays their bar tabs, even stays up late delivering love letters for the factory belle he crushes on. He always gets mocked behind his back. After taking the blame for his friend's warehouse theft and losing his steady factory job while being gossiped about by the whole town, he finally sees through the fake friendship. This time, he clenches his fists and vows to stop being a pushover. Using the straightforward wit of a Northeasterner, he fights back to regain his dignity, and finally gains true friendship and love.
