Lin Dachuan, owner of "Dachuan Iron Pot Stew" in a Northeast alley, is a rough-talking guy who secretly saves hot dishes for elderly loners. Su Xiaotang, a literary editor, returns home to research "Northeast street romance" but gets her white dress splashed by Dachuan's stew right off the train, sparking a feud. Yet when she watches him boil pear soup in an iron pot for her cough, or hears his childhood stories of making rock sugar haws in an iron pot, she realizes: Northeast romance isn't roses and wine—it's the smoky bubbles in the iron pot, the rough guy's secret tenderness in the sauerkraut jar, and the heartbeat hotter than boiling soup as they sit around the pot on a snowy night.
