Returning architect Liang Siwei is tasked with renovating his hometown’s old district, only to encounter his first love Ma Lejie, who’s guarding an old bookstore. Ten years ago, he left abroad believing she “despised poverty and loved wealth,” but she stayed, keeping a wall full of unsent letters for him. Now, the old district plan threatens to demolish the bookstore—its a dilemma between public duty and unresolved regret. What he wants to “rebuild” isn’t just the neighborhood, but the youth dampened by rain; what she wants to “defend” isn’t just the store, but the sycamore tree they planted together outside. When the demolition order arrives, an old photo falls from a book, with a line he never saw: “I’ll wait for you until the sunny rain stops.”
