Shen Siyue, a modern college student, accidentally time-travels to the 1960s and becomes a rural girl exploited by her cruel family. Her family tries to marry her to a grumpy old bachelor for bride price, but she refuses to resign to fate—she acts "crazy" to drive the family away. On her way to escape the arranged marriage, she meets Shi Tou, a young man also tortured by the same fate. They fight against all pressure together, successfully resist the forced marriage, break ties with their families, and support each other to build their own life.
