Lin Shen walked out of prison with a “Start Anew” manual in hand—three years ago, he took the blame to protect his stepsister Lin Xiaoman. Now, Xiaoman runs a small restaurant to fund his education, but it’s smashed to pieces by the same creditors who harassed her years ago. Glass shards pierce Xiaoman’s palm, yet she still guards the “new clothes for my brother” hidden under the counter. Watching Xiaoman cry amid broken plates, Lin Shen tucks the manual into his pocket and marches toward the thugs: “Whoever hurts my sister will lose the right to even apologize standing up.” When police arrive, the thugs are all lying on the ground. Lin Shen squats beside Xiaoman, wiping ash from her face with his sleeve: “Sis, I didn’t break the ‘start anew’ promise—I just… can’t bear to see you suffer anymore.”
