Lin Xiaoman, a Shanghai girl, travels to Northeast China to fulfill her grandmother's last wish—finding an old iron pot stew restaurant from years ago. She stumbles into the small eatery of Zhou Dajiang, a 'tough yet soft-hearted' guy: his words are sharper than a wok edge, saying 'Don’t interrupt my cooking,' but he secretly searches through yellowed old town records for her; he mocks 'Romance is mushy,' yet brings her bubbling stewed ribs to the heated kang on a snowy night, sneaking a sugar-coated hawthorn inside. When developers threaten to demolish the old alley, Zhou grabs a welding torch and welds a sign: 'Protect Xiaoman’s Kitchen.' Only then does Lin realize: Northeast romance isn’t about moonlit walks—it’s a heart warmed by the kang, and long love simmered in an iron pot.
