Su Wan, a Qishi (master of memory pacts) from the Memory-Keeping Pavilion, repairs spirit memory orbs with "unfulfilled love". But she breaks the rules for Gu Zhao, a general who died defending civilians—his soul is fading, clinging to an unkept promise with someone. Su secretly uses her own fated love thread as a pact to help Gu possess a body and recover his memories, with a price: every fragment Gu recalls makes Su forget a little more. When Gu finally remembers their past vow of "being each other's forever home" under the moon, Su stares at his face, confused: "Sir, have we met before?" In this gamble of trading deep affection for memories, she lost her own memory, and he lost the one he most wanted to keep.
